Tangled (Tangled 1) by Emma Chase

26085501
Drew Evans is a winner. Handsome and arrogant, he makes multimillion dollar business deals and seduces New York’s most beautiful women with just a smile. He has loyal friends and an indulgent family. So why has he been shuttered in his apartment for seven days, miserable and depressed?

He’ll tell you he has the flu.

But we all know that’s not really true.

Katherine Brooks is brilliant, beautiful and ambitious. She refuses to let anything - or anyone - derail her path to success. When Kate is hired as the new associate at Drew’s father’s investment banking firm, every aspect of the dashing playboy’s life is thrown into a tailspin. The professional competition she brings is unnerving, his attraction to her is distracting, his failure to entice her into his bed is exasperating.

Then, just when Drew is on the cusp of having everything he wants, his overblown confidence threatens to ruin it all. Will he be able untangle his feelings of lust and tenderness, frustration and fulfillment? Will he rise to the most important challenge of his life?

Can Drew Evans win at love?

Tangled is not your mother’s romance novel. It is an outrageous, passionate, witty narrative about a man who knows a lot about women…just not as much as he thinks he knows. As he tells his story, Drew learns the one thing he never wanted in life, is the only thing he can’t live without.

Loved this! It was refreshing to read a book completely from the males POV. Drew definitely had some interesting pearls of wisdom to share with us! I'm glad he never gave up on Kate and once her realized he loved her he continued to fight - he didn't give up a screw a bunch of girls like most guys do. Five stars!!

HOLY CLIFFHANGER BATMAN! All I have to say is Tristan has some major sucking up to do in the next book! And he darn well better do it! I'm currently crossing my fingers that book 3 will come out early and that there will be a HEA for Tristan and Camie!

*spoiler* I understand he was sexually frustrated at the end but the poor girl was clearly dizzy and drunk. I mean, she couldn't even concentrate on him and he gets mad she told him to stop? Party fowl, Tristan, party fowl!!!

Bring on book 3, the book where Tristan better be on his knees groveling, even though I'm pretty sure he won’t be (at least at first)!

I especially loved how Joy was the only one who could reach Moon in his feral state!! And Joy's dads reaction about Moon being a canine new species? PRICELESS!

Jake Slater never imagined the angel who fell into his bed would resist his charms by promptly kneeing him in the balls. But as Jake’s personal life begins to implode around him, he finds an unlikely ally in Abby. He’s never met a woman he can talk to, joke with, or most importantly make music with.

26085501
24-year old Pax Tate is an asshole.

Seriously.

He’s a tattooed, rock-hard bad-boy with a bad attitude to match.
But he’s got his reasons.

His mother died when Pax was seven, leaving a hole in his heart filled with guilt although he doesn’t understand why. What he does know is that he and his dad are left alone and with more issues than they can count.

As Pax grew up, he tried to be the kid his father always wanted; the perfect golden boy, but it didn’t work. His dad couldn’t overcome his grief long enough to notice and Pax couldn’t keep up the impossible perfect façade.
So he slipped far, far from it.

Now, he uses drugs and women to cope with the ugliness, the black void that he doesn’t want to deal with. If he pretends that the emptiness isn’t there, then it isn’t, right?
Wrong.

And it’s never more apparent than when he meets Mila.

Sweet, beautiful Mila Hill is the fresh air to his hardened frown, the beauty to his ugly heart. He doesn’t know how to not hurt her, but he quickly realizes that he'd better figure it out because he needs her to breathe.

When memories of his mother’s death resurface from where he’s repressed them for so long, Mila is there to catch him when the guilt starts making sense. Mila is the one…the one who can save him from his broken troubled heart; from his issues, from the emptiness.

But only if he can stop being an asshole long enough to allow it.

He knows that. And he’s working on it.

But is that enough to make her stay?

Love love love this book! For a good portion of it I just wanted to hug Pax and take all of his pain away. Poor kid.

Ahhh Pax. He truly was an asshole (especially in the beginning). He was also funny, sexy, romantic... Pax was everything all rolled up into one effed up ball. But, you couldn’t stop yourself from rooting for him and wanting him to get his act together, for his sake as well as Mila's!

As I write this I still have tears in my eyes from the feelings this book brought out in me. Pax and Mila are the epitome of the phrase, "opposites attract" but it worked for them! Such chemistry! I loved this book so much, it had it all - a couple who truly are two halves of a whole, a fascinating storyline that wouldn't let me put the novel down and flawless editing that made it such an easy read.

Wonderful book from start to finish. Awesome job Miss Cole! Brava!

Dante's Girl (The Paradise Diaries 1) by Courtney Cole

26085501
I have spent every summer since I was ten years old with my father in London. Every summer, since I was ten years old, has been uneventful and boring. Until this year.

And this year, after a freak volcanic eruption strands me far from home, I have learned these things:

1. I can make do with one outfit for three days before I buy new clothes.
2. If I hear the phrase, “You’re not in Kansas anymore, Toto,” even one more time, I might become a homicidal maniac.
3. I am horribly and embarrassingly allergic to jellyfish.
4. I am in love with Dante Giliberti, who just happens to be the beautiful, sophisticated son of the Prime Minister of a Mediterranean paradise.
5. See number four above. Because it brings with it a whole slew of problems and I’ve learned something from every one of them.
Let’s start with the fact that Dante’s world is five light-years away from mine. He goes to black-tie functions and knows the Prime Minister of England on a first name basis. I was born and raised on a farm in Kansas and wear cut-off jeans paired with cowboy boots. See the difference?

But hearts don’t care about differences. Hearts want what they want. And mine just wants to be Dante’s girl.

My heart just might be crazy.

She thought she’d be miserable. But then Maysie didn’t count on Jordan Levitt, the hot, pierced and tattooed, drum playing bartender who also happens to be very interested in her. And the feelings are totally mutual.

It had the makings of the perfect romantic set up. Boy meets girl. Boy likes girl. Boy has girlfriend? Okay, maybe not.

I was only going to give this book 4 stars but I loved Jordan so much I decided he's worth more!

Mays really pissed me off, the only thing that kept me reading was Jordan. I understand her hangups and its easy to see why she'd have all of her insecurities but enough is enough. Jordan did everything he could to reassure her and it still wasn't enough!!!! At one point I wanted him to stop fighting for her and find someone worthy!

*spoiler alert* Thank God they got their acts together in the end! When things were good between them they really were a perfect couple, such chemistry! So yeah this book gets five stars simply for the fact that I loved Jordan so much! He's so yummy! This book was worth the read just for him alone so check it out!

This is by far my favorite book in this series and I have read them all.

Justice and Jessie are both so thick-headed and headstrong that they are such a perfect match! This book had a nice build up – it certainly wasn’t “instant love” like a lot of books these days seem to have! I just love these characters! It’s about time someone “claimed” the leader of the NS!

If you haven’t heard of this series, check it out! Better yet – check out anything by this author, she is amazing and I have loved every single thing she’s ever written!

So um, where can I get a Travis?

ETA 2016: I have re-read this book quite a few times since my original review and I love it more each time. It’s a book I rate all of my books against and I always end up coming back to it and thinking of different parts at any given moment. I’d give it a more than 5 star review if such a thing was possible! I love Travis and Abby... I don’t think I’ve ever loved a book more. Movie, please!!

I didn't think I could like this type of book more than I did the first one but Hunted proved me wrong! Someway, somehow I like this one even better than the first!!!

It was so easy to fall for Sylvan and Sophia - both have been hurt before, both so afraid to open their hearts! Sylvan was just the perfect alpha male - protective, sensitive, honorable and so freaking hot! *sigh* Where can I get my own Sylvan?

I loved this book from start to finish and I can't wait to read the next one in the series!

I loved Beckwith - he cracked me up. And Jack's grandfather, I'd love to let him live with me. He's a hoot!!

This book was great. It had it all - drama, romance, humor, hot sexin', it was wonderful!

I LOVED THIS BOOK! I loved how different and unique it was. The alien ship and the way things were so different and advanced there was so fascinating to me. It was great!!

I loved the banter between Baird and Olivia. So cute!!! I even found myself laughing at their antics many times! Poor Baird just wanted a mate and was so good to her. But, if I was in her place I wouldn't give in so easily either. I mean, being taken from everything and everyone you know is not an easy thing to deal with or accept.

Oh and the sexin' was hawt. I want to be 'drafted' now. Yep, I want my own Kindred!

GREAT read! I loved it from start to finish and I can't wait to read the next one once it comes out!

I started reading this book 2 days ago and I could not put it down! It was so easy to fall in love with Jonah and Elle. They were so perfect for each other and just great! The characters were so believable I felt like I was there, taking the journey right along side them!

Jonah... he's perfectly flawed. I loved him! And the pinky thing? So damn cute!!

Great read that's worth every penny! It has everything you could ever want in a book - angst, romance, comedy, sexin', memorable characters, you get the idea! I have a feeling I'll be rereading this book frequently!

Okay I absolutely loved this so much I read it twice before I could review. The story made my heart ache so bad for Jessie and Slade. All they wanted was to be together and time and obnoxious people kept getting in the way!

Slade was hawt! So yummy, loved the alpha male in him.

Jessie had a lot of spunk and didn't just jump right back in his arms when he finally came back - I loved that about her!

Jessie and Slade fought hard and loved just as hard! This book was wonderful and I expect nothing less from Lora Leigh.

Oh and the lovin' between Jessie and Slade? So hot!

Right Here, Right Now by HelenKay Dimon

For Gabby Pearson, being dumped in public before the dessert course has to be the lowest of the low, especially when it's the old, "It's not you, it's me" speech. Honestly, how about something original: "I have five minutes to live" (very possible); "It's not you, it's the voices in my head" (thanks for the warning); or "I am such a powerful sexual being I could put you into a coma with one kiss" (wishful thinking). Not that Gabby would ever know since Reed Larkin never bothered to take her to bed. Why does a girl bother (to shave)? The only thing left to do is offer the guy a goodbye forever drink on his head.

Damn. Reed did his job: he walked away from Gabby rather than drag her into his unstable life and danger. Now he's wearing her full glass of wine instead of throwing her onto his sheets. It doesn't help that the woman is smart as hell and could stop a man's breath with that wide smile and those shapely curves. Gabby has it all, and Reed wants every inch of her. And now the joke's on him, because new intel says Gabby has just become his assignment: He has one day to win her back, get information from her she may not know she has, and somehow protect her at the same time. The stakes are high. The odds are impossible. And the mutual attraction is as hot and strong as Gabby's anger. And Reed can only hope his next speech, "It's you, baby, it's definitely you," will be the start of something wild, something crazy, something dangerous, something wonderful.

This book had it all - romance, humor, drama, even a bit of mystery. I fell in love with the main characters, their storyline was realistic and just wonderful. And the romance part of it? They loved hard and fought just as hard. This book had me laughing out loud pretty frequently, some scenes were just too funny that I couldn't help myself. If you haven't read this, check it out!

Updated 2021: This is my favorite book in the Bridgerton series, I have read it over and over again.

I loved this book! Anthony and Kate were so funny - their witty jabs back and forth were very entertaining. Julia Quinn did such a great job describing the settings and characters for this historical romance. She made it very easy to forget that I was wrapped up in a completely different time!

I will definitely be rereading this book again and again.

Making Chase (Chase Brothers 4) by Lauren Dane

Matt Chase has watched each one of his brothers find love and he knows he's ready for that too. It's all a matter of finding the woman who captures his heart. He's certainly sampled his fair share of them but none has moved him the way Tate Murphy does when he goes to her shop to thank her for some cookies and a thank you note.

I loved this book so much! I love it when you can easily relate to a heroine! Tate was headstrong and independent! She didn't want Matt to just come in and take care of her. She wanted to prove that could do it all on her own and still be with him! Tate's only downfall was that she had very low self-esteem. But, what female on earth isn't insecure with their body in some shape or form? Such a great heroine.

This series from start to finish was so amazing. I love it when authors continue to include all of the characters from each book as well as the town they live in. It's nice when authors make a book only about a specific couple but these types of books are also great. We get to find out what's going on with the previous couples and keep up with the wonderful Chase family. Simply wonderful!

My favorite scene was when the killer took the heroines book and threw it in the toilet and peed on it before putting the lid down to let the urine marinate. For some reason that scene always makes me laugh!

I love the characters - I absolutely love Nathan/Noah! Such a hot alpha male. I like Sabella too, she wasn't the typical 'poor me' heroine. It's nice to see a heroine who is smarter than the hero gives her credit for.

There are so many funny lines in this story that crack me up, and so many lines I just read and reread all over again.

This is one of my favorite books of all time so if you haven't read it, check it out!

This poor girl must have no self esteem because every time this guy touches her, kisses her, etc he thinks of food and blurts out something outrageous. Great book!

I'm loving the books in this series so much! Thank you so much to my friend for recommending them!

I don't really have much to say about this one - it was just as short as the first and equally as great! I loved the dynamic between Dylan and Smith. They balanced each other perfectly! Seriously. And I love that we get to know what is going on with the rest of the band. A lot of authors focus a book on those characters and only reference the other ones but this author included the other characters. I love it!

Check this series out, you won't regret it!

Play Nice (The Devils Share 1) by L.P. Maxa

26085501
Rock a stadium. Bang a chick. Repeat. As lead singer of The Devil’s Share, Dash Conner could get anything or anyone he wanted—until he met Lexi Grant.

MONEY. FAME. WHISKEY. SEX.

For Dash Conner, lead singer of The Devil’s Share, everything he wanted was his for the asking. Whiskey. Drugs. Money. Sex. But not Lexi Grant. For the first time since he picked up a guitar, a girl was actually demanding he woo her. For a chance with her, Dash would do that and more.

Lexi Grant was no groupie. Just because the biggest rock star in the world smiled at her didn’t mean she had to fall into bed with him—but it was going to be awfully hard to resist that impish smile and those tatted abs. Surely one night of fun wouldn’t hurt anyone.

Unless that night ends with a broken condom.

For Lexi and Dash, that’s just the beginning. Add an overly affectionate pit bull, a missing guitarist, a house full of sorority girls, a junkie ex-bandmate and an extreme aversion to Jäger, and it’s either a recipe for disaster or true love.

First of all - the ONLY reason this book is getting 4.5 stars instead of 5 is because of how short it is. I WANT MORE!

I fell in love with Dash and Lexi within the first few pages of this book. I know this type of storyline has been done so many times before but I never grow tired of it. And the band? I absolutely love them all! I love each of their little quirks and issues, they all just fit together so nicely.

Naturally, I would have liked to have seen more of a build up in Dash and Lexi's relationship before they became a couple and went the "I Love You" route but when a book is this short things are sped up a little bit. It still worked for the characters! I really can't think of any part of this book I didn't like (other than the fact that its so short)! It easily could have been another 150-200 pages so the storyline and characters were more fleshed out. But, it is what it is - I still loved it!

I absolutely love Dagger, Lexi's dog. I feel like he definitely steals the spotlight in a lot of the book - he's such an important character.

So, yeah, I loved the book… GO CHECK IT OUT!

And, now I'm off to buy the next book!

When I Was Yours by Samantha Towle

26085501
“Marry me.”
“What?” I stared back at him, unblinking.
He moved closer, taking my face in his hands. “I love you, Evie. I look into the future, and the only thing I see clearly is you. Marry me.”

What’s an eighteen-year-old girl who was madly in love with her nineteen-year-old boyfriend say?

Of course, I said yes.

Twenty-four hours later, I married Adam Gunner at a Vegas chapel to the sounds of “Livin’ on a Prayer” by Bon Jovi. Not the best omen. I get that now.

Then, exactly one week later, I left him. I walked out, leaving behind my wedding ring, annulment papers, and my heart, and he never knew why.

I haven’t seen him since. Not in ten long years.

Now, he’s here, standing before me. Looking at me with nothing but hurt and hatred in his eyes, he wants answers.

Answers I can’t give.

When I read the summary of this book I knew I had to get it, even though I've read quite a few books with a similar premise. I truly enjoyed both characters and learning how their relationship came to be. They are absolutely perfect for each other! Their names are Adam and Evie - does it get any more perfect than that?

That being said, I did feel that this book was so easy to predict. By about 20% in I already figured out what happened and why, hence the reason for not giving it 4 stars. That didn't stop me from reading it though! The characters were so raw and honest, it was hard not to identify with them.

I can always count on Samantha Towle for a great, fast-paced romance read! Brava!

From the summary of the book, I really thought this was going to be completely different than it was and I'm not sure if that's a good or bad thing.

The book was very well written so there is definitely no confusion as to how a character feels or why something is happening. The author did an amazing job! However, I'm just not sure I can get on board with this heroine. I get that she is unsatisfied with her love life, even though she loves her boyfriend and is "settled" in her relationship. I get that she wants more from him. But, what I can't get on board with is where her thought process goes and her rationale after she gets kidnapped (I would say more but I don't want to spoil the book for anyone).

From the summary of the book I assumed the book was going to be about a girl who is kidnapped and the journey she goes on waiting for her boyfriend to rescue her. I thought there would be parts explaining what said boyfriend does to get her back. Nope. This book is about a girl who eventually falls in love with her "master" - Stockholm syndrome at it's best. Now, I can get on board with that - I've read A LOT of erotica where the girl fell in love with her kidnappers and there is nothing wrong with a book that depicts it. However, what happens to this girl before she arrives at her masters house and during just completely turned me off their relationship. I know that it's a book and anything can happen but this one was a little bit of a reach for me.

The hero, however, I definitely liked. Q was a very intense, interesting man. I liked his backstory and what he was about. I can definitely see what made the heroine eventually fall in love with him and I would have loved to have read more about this character.

Overall, this was a very good book, it was, I just couldn't get on board with everything in it. Maybe due to the issues that go on within it or maybe its just me. Why don't you check it out and decide for yourself?

Neanderthal Seeks Human (Knitting in the City #1) by Penny Reid

26085501
There are three things you need to know about Janie Morris: 1) She is incapable of engaging in a conversation without volunteering TMTI (Too Much Trivial Information), especially when she is unnerved, 2) No one unnerves her more than Quinn Sullivan, and 3) She doesn't know how to knit.

After losing her boyfriend, apartment, and job in the same day, Janie Morris can't help wondering what new torment fate has in store. To her utter mortification, Quinn Sullivan- aka Sir McHotpants- witnesses it all then keeps turning up like a pair of shoes you lust after but can't afford. The last thing she expects is for Quinn- the focus of her slightly, albeit harmless, stalkerish tendencies- to make her an offer she can't refuse.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book! I was pulled in by the character of Janie, I loved her nervous habits and her random ramblings. I actually learned a bit from her! Quinn was very sexy and intriguing but I feel like we don't really know much about him. What I do know, I like a lot, but there is so much about his character that is a mystery.

Now I must talk about Steven for a second because I truly loved this character.

Steven reached forward, squeezed my hand, and kept me in place for a brief moment. His voice was low enough to ensure the comment was not heard by the others. “He’s going to subject you to the silent twenty-minute car ride from hell. After the meeting this afternoon, we’ll order room service and have a sleepover. We can commiserate, and you cry on my shoulder.”
I absolutely love Steven! I hope the author does a book just for him. His character is just so refreshing - he says what he means, he's in tune with peoples feelings, he's smart and funny. I want Steven's book!

“Good girl. Test passed. I think I love you, Janie. Let’s get married and not have children.”
How can you not love Steven?

My only complaint, and the reason this book is not getting 5 stars, is that it just ends. We're finally getting somewhere with Janie and Quinn and their relationship woes and the book just ends all wrapped up in a bow at like 85%. A chapter ago the characters were nearly broken up and then everything is all happily ever after. What? And the characters that were prominent for most of the book are not mentioned for the last 1/3 of it - Steven, Jon... I feel like the author has such a great story here but then she just ends it without wrapping anything up. Plus, we still don't really know a lot about Quinn. We can infer a lot of things but we don't truly know.

I still think this is a great book and I would recommend it, I just wish it was longer and more fleshed out.

"Fairy tales, like shoes, come in all shapes and sizes. Frogs turn into princes. Princes assist ladies into glass slippers."
What a powerful first line for this novel! And how true it is! We all want that chivalrous guy who opens the door for us, pampers us and treats us all like the princesses we always dreamed we were!

First off - I just want to say how much I truly enjoyed this book from start to finish. It was just so well written, thought out and just AMAZING. I loved Mere and Tanner and their instant chemistry. I loved Mere's sister Jill, what a hoot that one is!

In the beginning when Mere was explaining what a jerk her ex was and how she was going to find her own happily ever after I wasn't sure that I was going to enjoy this book. There were so many elements and characters and unknowns in the beginning; I just wasn't sure this book was going to be my cup of tea. I've never been so happy I was wrong in my life!

In walks Tanner - this truly good guy who just wants to do this "job" and get on with his life. Poor guy only wants to protect his family and gets roped into doing something he truly doesn't want to do. I enjoyed this character so much and I could easily understand why Mere fell for him.

This book was so wonderful from start to finish. It had all the elements of any great novel - romance, comedy, drama, and of course - a happily ever after! Check it out, you won't regret it!

This was a cute, fun read. There was very little angst (which I LOVED) and the story moved right along. It moved at a perfect pace and everything was tied up nicely in the end.

I truly enjoyed reading this story but I finished it and felt like it just needed more. More story? More character development? I'm not sure what it needed but I felt like this was a novella rather than a novel. It was a good story, nothing was wrong with it but I just wanted MORE.

It was so hard to put this book down! I just wanted to keep reading and reading - it completely captivated me from the start!

I absolutely loved the character of Rose. She was so funny, witty and REAL. Violet was okay, I like that she truly loved her sister but she was a secondary character for me.

Joe was a mystery to me for the entire book. I found myself wanting to believe what he was saying but not completely trusting him. Even after finishing the book I'm still not sure what to make of him - he truly is a man of mystery!

Great read, I highly recommend it! I can't wait to read some of the authors other works!

Rebel is one sexy hunk of a man!

I truly enjoyed this book and didn't want to put it down; such a good read! But, I felt like there were so many things that weren't explained - Rebel's back story could have been much more explained. I felt like some parts were just randomly added in, they didn't "fit" with the storyline. Maybe it's just me who felt that way, maybe not.

Another reason I'm not giving this book the 4 stars I feel it could deserve is because it just ENDED. Nothing was wrapped up, there were so many questions! Something big happens, we feel like Teagan is finally getting to the bottom of stuff and the books ENDS. Not cool, not cool at all. I understand wanting to leave the book open for the next one and for getting readers to want to purchase the next one but it still wasn't nice.

Anyway...

All in all, good story, it has likeable characters (some not so much) and it definitely makes you want to read the next book.

This was a short, cute and fun read. I liked the idea of the storyline, even though its been done so many times before. I love the idea of pretty much love at first sight and just knowing that someone is the right person for you - it intrigues me.

I wish the book would have been longer and more fleshed out; it would have been much better had it been an extra 100 pages. I would have liked to have read more of Madison and Holden's backstory's and delving more into why they think and act the way they do about certain things. I also would have liked to have learned more about Madison's parents and what was going on with her father. She came home because he was in the hospital and after she comes home there is barely any mention of her parents. However, the book was still good as it is and I did enjoy it.

3.5 Stars!

Poughkeepsie by Debra Anastasia

26085501
He counts her smiles every day and night at the train station. And morning and evening, the beautiful commuter acknowledges him—just like she does everyone else on the platform. But Blake Hartt is not like the others . . . he’s homeless. Memories of a broken childhood have robbed him of peace and twisted delusions into his soul. He stays secluded from the sun, sure the world would run from him in the harsh light of day.

Each day, Livia McHugh smiles politely and acknowledges her fellow commuters as she waits for the train to the city. She dismisses this kindness as nothing special, just like her. She’s the same as a million other girls—certainly no one to be cherished. But special or not, she smiles every day, never imagining that someone would rely on the simple gesture as if it were air to breathe.

When the moment comes that Livia must do more than smile, without hesitation she steps into the fray to defend the homeless man. And she's surprised to discover an inexplicable connection with her new friend. After danger subsides, their smiles become conversation. Their words usher in a friendship, which awakens something in each of them. But it’s not long before their bond must prove its strength. Entanglements from the past challenge both their love and their lives.

Blake’s heart beats for Livia’s, even if her hands have to keep its rhythm. Love is patient. Love is kind. Love never fails. Love never fails, right?

I'm not sure how I feel about this book. It was good, I loved the idea for the storyline, but I felt like it wasn't great. The book was a bit long for a story like this and there were too many loose ends. I don't like feeling like I have too many questions at the end of a novel and that a book isn't complete.

I loved all of the characters, each and every one - they were flawed and perfect all at the same time. I especially loved Mouse and would have loved to learn even more about him.

I feel terrible for even bringing this subject up since I clearly knew what the story was about but I don't know that I could just jump into a relationship with a homeless man, I really don't. Maybe if things were more built up in the story I would have had an easier time accepting it? It was too quick for me - Blake and Livia started talking and then bam they were an instant couple. The rest of the book was them facing challenges as a couple and from the summary I thought the book was more about them becoming a couple...

Regardless, the author is very talented and I have read some of her other works and thoroughly enjoyed them. This book was good, in its own way, I just thought it was a little bit too long for my liking.

Emmy and Oliver. Oliver and Emmy. I love their friendship and how it can withstand time and anything life throws at them.

I loved this little high school romance book; it was refreshing to read a book that, even though it had drama, wasn't too heavy on the angst! It's nice to read about a couple who are friends first and a couple second. That's so rare to read about these days!

This book should be on everyone's to be read pile. Go! Do it now! I promise you wont regret it and this book will leave you with a smile on your face when you finish it!

This Sky by Autumn Doughton

26085501
Gemma Sayers has spent the last six days rotting in a hotel room, wallowing in a noxious combination of gin, junk food and self-pity. She’s no stranger to disappointment but nothing could have prepared her for the chaos that unfolded when her celebrity boyfriend publicly humiliated her. Now the fairytale is officially over and Gemma is determined to put the past behind her and strike out to find a new dream. Just a few teeny-tiny details to work out: she’s currently broke, homeless and unemployed.

Landon Young has his own worries. Surfer by day and bartender by night, he doesn’t have the interest or the time to be anyone’s happily-ever-after. Weighed down by the memory of what happened two years ago, Landon can barely keep his head above water.

This Sky is the thoughtful and often funny story about broken trust, an unexpected love and the hopes we keep sewn in the linings of our pockets.

Can I just start of by saying how much I truly enjoyed the authors humor for this book? I loved Julie and her friendship with Gemma. Loved their discussions!

Landon and Gemma were absolutely perfect for each other. They each had their own demons but found a way to make things work for them. It was so refreshing to read a novel where the characters actually fell in love with each other over time! I've read so many novels where the characters meet and BOOM! they are happy and in love, yadda, yadda, yadda.

I really don't have much to say about this one except that everyone needs to read it! Its has comedy, romance, drama. This book has it all and I truly enjoyed reading it. There was nothing that needed to be added or removed. The book didn't dawdle at all and the characters were easy to envision in my mind.

I will definitely be reading other books by this author - she did an amazing job!

Within These Walls by J.L. Berg

26085501
Within these walls, he became my solace, my sanctuary and my strength.

I am not strong. I am just a survivor of circumstance.
Isn't that what we all do? Survive?

Each of us has our own set of circumstances to muddle through. Mine are just more...complicated. Born with a severe heart defect, I've seen the inside of a hospital room more than my own bedroom.

I was drowning, a prisoner to the illness that owned me, until he appeared. He thinks he's blocked out the world with his tattoos and hard exterior, but I see the real Jude, the one he so desperately wants to forget.

But is he the answer to my prayers or will he break my already damaged heart forever?

My name is Lailah Buchanan, and this is our story of hope, redemption and sacrificing it all for the one you love.

I am absolutely in love with this book! In Love!

I loved Jude and Lailah (love the way her name is spelled, even!)! Jude was a perfectly flawed character who managed to make Lailah, as well as me, fall in love with him! He was tattooed, angsty, mysterious, kind, funny, thoughtful, the list goes on and on. He was so wonderful to Lailah and she deserved all of it and more.

A lot of books like this upset me because they promise a strong heroine and that is almost never the case. With Lailah, I found myself applauding her at every turn! She was strong, courageous and such a great soul. My favorite scene (spoiler alert!) was when she stayed up late and pretended to sleep to catch whoever was leaving her chocolate pudding while she was sleeping. I think that scene shows so much about her character, not to mention that we get a good look at how spunky she is!

Lailah and Jude, Jude and Lailah - their names were truly written in the stars; they were meant to be together.

I loved every single thing about the characters and this storyline. I love all of the hospital nurses, doctors, administration and even liked Lailah's mom! The author did such an amazing job weaving this tale and bringing these characters to life. I could picture everyone in my mind and this talented author gave me that. Brava!

This book is worth every bit of the high rating it has. If you haven't read it yet, what the heck are you waiting for?

I was given a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I'm still reeling from the major cliffhanger at the end of this book so I'm thinking about what I want to say. Our heroine, Kinsley. Did I like her? Sometimes. I was proud of her for making her own decisions and standing her ground but other times she was like a lost puppy following her master and letting the men in her life tell her what to do and how to live. However, with the way she was raised, I'm surprised she has a brain at all since it seems her father and grandfather had total control over her life.

Killian. I went back and forth with my opinion of him as well. On one hand we have this cocky, but sweet, sexy man who only wants what's best for Kinsley. And on the other hand he's controlling, a workaholic and very closed off. All in all, I did like him - he's definitely swoon-worthy!

The cliffhanger is what killed this book for me and what caused me to give the book a 4 star rating. I don't usually care for cliffhangers in general but this one was too great for me. The cliffhanger just made no sense and made me re-think the entire book. I know, I know, that's what cliffhangers are supposed to do but in the case of this book, I felt like it didn't fit. Maybe it's just me that feels that way.... However, I'm not the author and I'm sure she has great reasons for doing the cliffhanger the way she did. I'm interested to see what happens in book 2!
